As I step outside a courtroom years ago, a child says “you have beautiful eyes.” I thank her and tell her that she has beautiful eyes too. She then looks at me and proclaims, “our eyes are the same, beautiful.” Although she has brown eyes and mine are blue, she recognizes a truth that extends beyond facts.
A similar truth exists within each of us. The truth of love that surrounds and exists within each of us. Certain circumstances, situations, and conditions sometimes separate us from that truth. The separation may run so deep and wide that we can neither see nor hear it.
It is easy to sometimes get stuck. We may start thinking our thoughts and feelings are indeed the facts, or even the whole truth. We cannot possibly know the full truth about anyone from a factual standpoint. We may choose to see them in their full truth of love.
In some of my classes, I teach about listening with ears of love and looking through eyes of love. When we do that, we see the fuller truth that goes beyond the present facts.
Are you ready to see the full truth about the people in your family, organization, or community? Have you acknowledged the whole truth about you?
To delve deeper and create closeness in your relationships, check out an upcoming class.
